Make a difference

Each moment in time is precious and cannot be brought back once it is gone. Yesterday is gone and today will never return. So with this said, learn to be a blessing and take the time to care. Be a friend and encourage someone. Let your words heal and not wound. Let your actions be positive instead of negative. Make a difference no matter how small it is and bring meaning to your tomorrow.

Are you a spectator of your own life?

I think this quote sums it up best:

“The more you document your own life, the more you check in, you tweet, the more you post photos of what you did last night, the more you do all of this stuff, or even in my case, the more you listen for little lines of dialogue that can make their way into stories, the more you photograph moments, in a way, the more you start to step out of those moments, and if you do that too much, you become a spectator to your own life.”

-- A quote from Jonathan Harris’ CreativeMornings talk via swissmiss.

"This is a great reminder to us all, isn’t it? I understand that some of this “spectating” has its own value. It’s cool to look back and see what you’ve done in the past. It’s a good thing. However, if there was ever going to be a time in technological history that we would be at risk of faulting at over spectating our own lives, it would be now.

Do you think we do this spiritually, too?

When was the last time you thought about scripture and just enjoyed it between you and God without dropping it on social networks?"

Watermelon - Interesting and Refreshing Health Facts

I recommend 4 really great recipes using this Fruit for the family or entertaining purposes. It's been very hot the past two weeks and so lots of coolers and thirst quenchers were sought out. Watermelon was one of the tops with it's high water content and yummy sweet refreshing taste. I did some researched on it and found from various news and medical sites that it is an amazing fruit with a lot health benefits. Here is a summary of my findings .....

Watermelons are extremely refreshing as they have very high water content, 92% water and 8% sugar.
Rich in electrolytes (sodium and potassium) this wonder fruit amazingly nourishes your body. It not only replaces the electrolytes lost through sweat but also hydrates your cells and maintains the water balance in the cells. Metabolism is boosted as the functionality of the cells is increased, ultimately energizing your body. The 4 great fatigue fighters found in watermelon drives away any feeling of fatigue you may experience :
  1. Potassium (mineral necessary for water balance and found inside of every cell. People with low potassium levels can experience muscle cramps.),
  2. Vitamin C (help to bolster the immune system's defenses against infections and viruses)
  3. Lycopene (An antioxidant that may help prevent cancer)
Watermelon is high in Vitamin B6 -  helps the immune system produce antibodies. Antibodies are needed to fight many diseases. Vitamin B6 helps maintain normal nerve function and form red blood cells which may relieve stress, anxiety and panic attacks. It naturally relaxes the blood vessels without any drug side effects. The body uses it to help break down proteins. The more protein you eat, the more vitamin B6 you need.
Vitamin A found in watermelon is important for optimal eye health and boosts immunity by enhancing the infection-fighting actions of white blood cells called lymphocytes.

This fruit may be a Natural Viagra according to research scientists. It's rich in an amino acid called citrulline. Citrulline relaxes and dilates blood vessels very much like Viagra and other drugs that are used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED).

Actions speak louder than words.

You’re going to come across people in your life who will say all the right words at all the right times. But in the end, it’s always their actions you should judge them by. It’s actions, not words, that matter.

Know that YOU MATTER!

According to palliative nurse and death counselor, Bonnie Ware, the top regret expressed by people who are dying is “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.” This regret is an important reminder – it can change not only the way we die but the way we live.

Even if not everyone has recognized it, you make a positive difference in the world. Your positive self regard may feel stronger at some times than others, but even the smallest seed of love is valuable because it can grow. - Tiny Buddha

Find someone that needs a smile, and give them that smile, once a day for the rest of your life and like a ripple in a pond it will be carried onwards. -  SoulLife Searcher

Be kind to others. In this busy world people become self consumed and forget that kindness goes a long way. - Ana Stuckart

“Let the first act of every morning be to make the following resolve for the day:
- I shall not fear anyone on Earth.
- I shall fear only God.
- I shall not bear ill will toward anyone.
- I shall not submit to injustice from anyone.
- I shall conquer untruth by truth. And in resisting untruth, I shall put up with all suffering.”

Back Pain Relief - The 5 minute Stretch Routine.

Wow, it's been a long spell since I posted anything in my blog. Real Life took over big time...and I guess I was busy with my other private blogs and personal issues. Anyway, today is all about pain...back pain specifically. I realise so many of us are going through this daily...and what got me into researching deep into it was the fact that my youngest daughter was diagnosed with Sciatica. She suffers so badly from it on a daily basis and she is only 18! It is just so unnatural for someone so young as herself to go through such but I have learned that MANY of our young ones suffer from it. It makes me wonder if it could be because of their overly heavy school bags or too long hours at the computer?

While researching through many medical sites and articles ...I stumbled across one particular site which really got my attention because it made a lot of sense and had a lot of good information and tips. I would like to share this site with all you people out there who suffer from back pain. You may want to like the Facebook fanpage because it offers a lot of good tips for an improved and quality life for those who suffer from pain.

I will from time to time post some of their articles in my blog to educate and create awareness about this  issue of pain....and today is about how stretching a few minutes a day can help ease the pain in your back

The 5 minute Stretch Routine.

Back pain is a leading cause of disability and missed days at work.
But there are many times when you simply have to push through the pain and get the job done, right?
That’s why today I want to share a quick office stretch break routine with you including specific stretching exercises that’ll loosen up tight muscles… relieve existing pain… and prevent an existing back pain problem from getting worse.
Follow along with me in today’s short video where I show you exercises you can use to stretch and strengthen your lower back, biceps, triceps, and mid-section right at your desk.
These will help you overcome many of the common office worker pain complaints I hear about on a regular basis. Even though I take about 5 minutes to show you all the exercises, even a minute or two stretching several times a day can make a huge difference in your back pain while working a desk job.

I create my Life.

"I create my Life...my choices make my Reality". What you want and feel you deserve in life will not come to you unless you make it happen. There is always a solution to everything...it's just a matter of whether you truly want it or not and whether you are willing to wait for it while making an effort to make it happen.

Some Things Do Last.

They say many things in life never last, but the truth is, you never lose these things until you let them. Life is about choices, hanging on, holding back and letting go. THINGS DO LAST. Only if you let them, and they let you.

"Some things don't last forever, but some things do. Like a good song, or a good book, or a good memory you can take out and unfold in your darkest times, pressing down on the corners and peering in close, hoping you still recognize the person you see there."-- Sarah DessenThis Lullaby

THE SMILE PROJECT.

A heart touching  Story.
(author unknown).

This story is widely reprinted on the Internet.
I have not found a source for it yet.

I am a mother of three (ages 14,12, 3) and have recently completed my college degree. The last class I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being had been graced with. Her last project of the term was called "Smile." The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reaction. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say, hello anyway...so, I thought, this would be a piece of cake literally.

Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to McDonalds, one crisp March morning. It was just our way of sharing special playtime with our son. We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then even my husband did. I did not move an inch...an overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside of me as I turned to see why they had moved. As I turned around I smelled a horrible "dirty body" smell... and there standing behind me were two poor homeless men.

As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was "smiling". His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God's Light as he searched for acceptance. He said, "Good day" as he counted the few coins he had been clutching. The second man fumbled with his hands as he stood behind his friend. I realized the second man was mentally deficient and the blue eyed gentle man was his salvation. I held my tears.... as I stood there with them.

The young lady at the counter asked him what they wanted. He said, "Coffee is all, Miss" because that was all they could afford. (To sit in the restaurant and warm up, they had to buy something...he just wanted to be warm). Then I really felt it... the compulsion was so great I almost reached out and embraced the little man with his blue eyes. That is when I noticed all eyes in the restaurant were set on me...judging my every action. I smiled and asked the young lady behind the counter to give me two more breakfast meals on a separate tray. I then walked around the corner to the table that the men had chosen as a resting spot. I set the tray on their table then I laid my hand on the blue eyed gentleman's cold hand. He looked up at me, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Thank you." I leaned over, began to pat his hand and said, "I did not do this for you...God is here working through me to give you hope."

I started to cry as I walked away to join my husband and son. When I sat down my husband smiled at me and said, "That is why God gave you to me honey.... to give me hope." We held hands for a moment and at that time we knew that only because of the Grace that we had been given that we were able to give.

We are not church goers but we are believers. That day showed me the pure Light of God's sweet love. I returned to college, on the last evening of class, with this story in hand. I turned in "my project" and the instructor read it.... then she looked up at me and said, "Can I share this?" I slowly nodded as she got the attention of the class. She began to read and that is when I knew that we, as human beings and being part of God, share this need to heal people and be healed. In my own way I had touched the people at McDonalds, my husband, son, instructor, and every soul that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a college student.

I graduated with one of the biggest lessons I would ever learn…. UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE. Much love And compassion sent to each and every person who may read this learn how to LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS - NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE.

"Tough times don't last but tough people do."

We have to constantly remind ourselves of this to keep strong...but it's really not easy when things just remain down for such a long time. My last blog post said that Life gives us negatives and never removes it until the lesson in it is learned....but sometimes we are unable to identify what the lesson is let alone be able to overcome the negative. Do we keep going in circles and remain in that black hole indefinitely till we figure it out on our own... or do we share it with a loved one or friend to open our minds to other possibilities which we are unable to come up with on our own.....or do we step on our pride and denial that we do need professional help and to seek it before we fall deeper to only destroy everything around us as well...including whatever shreds of positives that are left in our lives. ?

Is it worth it to brood on what we don't have to only destroy and kill what we already do have? Many of us do not realise that we neglect the good which is already in our lives because we are so busy dwelling in the past or chasing the future. Be grateful for what you have NOW….and nurture it as much as possible if you want a fulfilling and happy life.

Don't expect to get anything positive or nurturing from loved ones when you yourself do not give it. How can you expect anyone to understand your needs when you do not care to make an effort to understand their needs as well? In the giving only are we able to undergo the process of receiving.

Say NO to Negative Thinking.

Every Negative thought is a message sent from Life to Teach you a Lesson. You will continue having the Negative thought until you Learn the Lesson it has to Teach. Negative thoughts are there for a reason, and you have to find the root of the cause. Discover why it is there.

I did a lot of research on this because I had been in this ugly destructive cycle  not too long ago. The worst is over....but sometimes there are bouts of it trying to creep back into my life. It is a constant struggle but I strive to pull myself back into positive mode again. It helps when you have positive people around you.

Negative thoughts will destroy our lives. When a negative thought manages to  creep into your mind, Don’t say it....Don’t think it....Don’t write it..Don’t infer it.  Don’t agree with it.  It’s always wrong, and never right.  It never makes your life better, and always makes it worse. Check the negative spin cycle below...of how destructive it can be.

EVERY NEGATIVE THOUGH CONTAINS AN IMPORTANT LESSON

Every negative thought that enters your mind is a message sent from life to teach you a lesson.  You will continue having the negative thought until you learn the lesson.  The sooner you learn it, the sooner it will no longer be a problem and go away. When life sends you a negative thought, you must discover the lesson it has to teach.  Implicit in that negative thought is a positive action you are supposed to take. When a negative thought enters your mind, you immediately must do four things.

First, learn the lesson it has to teach.

Second, take a positive action based on what the negative thought has taught you.

Third, think of two positive thoughts to displace the negativity from your mind.

Fourth, use your Power Graphics to push your mind in a positive direction.

These four steps are easy to perform, and they give you an effective strategy to deal with the negative thoughts blowing through your mind.

Oh yes...don't forget to always smile. :) A smile costs nothing....it's contagious and it is the very first thing to do to help you to be in a positive frame of mind and to block negative thoughts. A smile radiates positive vibes which in turn catches on to others and somehow, the universe bounces it back onto us to bring positive into our lives.

It's time to forget your negative past and to reach forward into a positive future. HAPPY 2013 EVERYONE :)

Great information and resource of positive thinking and how to avoid depression from Dr. Dave :
zero tolerance to negative thinking.
